Alzheimer’s Progress
Today we head into the weekend, bringing more promising news regarding Alzheimer’s disease. Published just yesterday in the journal, Science, lab research shows that a Skin Cancer Drug Reverses Alzheimer’s in Mice. During the study, mice were given a skin cancer drug, bexarotene, which is used to treat cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Within 72 hours of taking a large dose of the drug, the mice showed dramatic improvements in their memory. The scientists are extremely excited about the results but also warn that they do not know if they will have the same results once they test the drug with humans. Fortunately, since the drug is already approved by the FDA, research can begin on humans in the near future. Read more about these fascinating findings on the CNN Health website.
